Hello!

My name is Matt. I’m a Strategist with 8+ years of experience in integrated marketing, brand partnerships, and educating clients on the latest music and pop culture trends. I am currently the Director of Integrated Marketing at Genius. I’ve spent a lot of time here, working my way up from being the first marketing hire to overseeing a full team of strategists and the whole pre-sales marketing org.

Some things I did/do as an individual contributor:

  • Brainstorm RFPs with all the good peeps to come up with the best ideas

  • Develop a lot of cool campaigns & decks! Write the strategy, develop the creative with the teams, and help bring everything to life. Keynote, Google Slides, and, sometimes—unfortunately—PowerPoint.

  • Create Big, Big Ideas—IRL experiences, a premium video series, and shiny tech builds. I love stepping outside RFPs to develop some cool ideas we put into the market.

  • Trends & Insights— Data rocks. I use Genius lyric data to create reports on how brands are mentioned in lyrics. Fashion brands, gaming franchises, you name it.

Some things I do as a department leader:

  • Create process It all goes through the process I built. I make sure the whole team is working on exciting RFPs.

  • Mentor Strategists: I spend a lot of time reviewing RFP work, giving feedback, and making sure my team is improving daily.

  • Find New Avenues What are we missing? What do we need? How do we get there?

What I did before Genius

  • Brand Strategy At Carrot Creative (VICE). I created strategies for brands like Klondike, Suave, OnePlus, and The New York Yankees.

    • I also hit .660 for the company softball team.

Outside of work, I’m a die-hard Bulls fan, collector of all things music, player of video games, and best friend of Harley (pictured).
